Farm Watch Program

FARM WATCH PROGRAM
Step by step when looking into the problem of trespassing or other crimes on the Ranches and Farms.
• Identify the problem
• Notify local law enforcement of what you are doing and why. It is best to get their guidance on how to go forward
• Research the area, a dry run is always best if you can
• Conduct a test run on surveillance and recording, start times and finishing times.
• Ensure your phone numbers for local police/ sheriff department are correct.
• Check in with dispatch when on location whenever possible
• Phone list of volunteers
• Plan teams if possible as to not work alone.  It is safer that way
• Paperwork, how will you record the incident?      Digital/ tape recorder? Pen and paper?
• Be consistent with your work

• Get as many people involved as you can. The more the better
• Use the best equipment you can, the better your video or photos, the better you will be in the long run
• Ask as many questions as you can from as many different sources as you can such as law enforcement, lawyers, farm bureau and C.R.C.P.T.

• Be prepared to back up what you are doing
• Be prepared to go to court. Conduct all activities as if they are going to be reviewed in a court of law.
• Be prepared to do the right thing. Sometimes it is not easy
